His wife and dance partner couldn’t find shoes that were comfortable, fashionable and well balanced – so to please her, Vladimir started engineering a shoe that would make her feel great.

What happened in the process was a shoe revolution!

AIDA shoes are different from traditional dance shoes in three major ways. First, the heel placement is closer to the toes, and the heel itself is more concave than other brands. This creates a slightly forward tilting effect in the dancer.

Second, the cushion of each shoe is literally three times thicker than other brands, so dancers can move in total comfort with less impact on their feet and knees.

Third, every single AIDA shoe is hand made to order in Russia. There are endless options of toe box shape, width, size, heel height and shoe materials. Each dancer can have his or her dream shoe custom made without a custom price.

Karina and Vladimir Kotlyarov worked together for almost two years to engineer the Karina shoe.
