Sunning & Funning in the Desert! Desert Classic 2016
It has been a couple of years since I attended the Desert Classic Dancesport Championships, organized by Igor & Irina Suvorov. This year it was back in the spectacular JW Marriott in Palm Desert, CA. This hotel has undergone some major renovations since I was last here, in fact the last time I attended Desert Classic it was held at a different resort as the JW was undergoing those renovations.

A Night to Remember
Dance Legends Slavik Kryklyvvy and Karina Smirnoff, with close friends Justinas Duknauskas and Anna Kovalova, came up with a vision to remind people that dancing is universal, with no boundaries. That in a loving and open environment, dance is magical and transforming. It can breathe new life into a tired soul; unleash locked away creativity; unite generations and cultures; trigger long forgotten memories; turn sadness into joy, if only during the dance.
Last Night at the Capital!
This was the 20th anniversary of the Capital Dancesport Championships and like every other year it finished on a golden note with a fantastic show and excellent competitions.
Moment of Joy and Empowerment
This month’s Pro-Am Spotlight is the Reverend Doctor Charlene M. Proctor who tells us how to take the positive path, in the ever changing world of ballroom dancing. In 2015, she was a U.S.D.C. National Rising Star Smooth Champion and an Ohio Star Ball Rising Star Smooth Champion. Her reflections on how to manifest success while finding joy in the ballroom will help you on your own personal dance journey.

Open American Smooth Manhattan 2016
The Open American Smooth at the Manhattan Dancesport Championships delivered all that it was supposed to. With the absence of the Perzhu’s from the field this year, it could’ve been a very interesting year for this style. However, it hasn’t turned out that way. But with the excitement of both American Styles being danced at the Open British next year I hope that the dancers can push through the politics and challenge each other to bring the best and most innovative dancing to Blackpool.
